Trash Collection Information

IWS staff are on the road between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Garbage should be placed at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on your scheduled collection day, and no earlier than sundown the evening prior to the collection day. Please do not put out trash in advance of that time; it is unsightly and a potential health hazard.  It also adds to the potential of increased litter.  Additionally, empty garbage cans must be removed from the curb by the end of the collection day.

Trash should be left in covered containers or heavy-duty plastic bags and not exceed 50 pounds each. Loose household items should be placed curbside in bags or cans (Please do not use cardboard boxes that can be recycled).

The garbage collection schedule is currently available in PDF format and via our Recycle Coach app for your phone or computer.

If your street name is not on the list or you need more information, please call Public Works at (609) 882-3382.

Additional Notes

  • Up to three bulk items will be picked up on your trash day.
  • Do not place large electronics such as TVs, computers, monitors, laptops at the curb for pickup. As of January 1, 2011 the Electronics Waste Management Act mandates that they be recycled. Electronics can be dropped off for recycling at the Department of Public Works, Waste Drop Off Convenience Center, located at 136 Scotch Road or residents can dispose of them at the MCIA's Household Hazardous Waste Collection and Electronics Recycling Events held periodically throughout the year.
  • Please allow additional time for trash pickup during inclement weather.
  • Holiday Pickup Schedule

A note about grass and brush...

Leaves and other yard waste should not be included in with your regular garbage, but placed in biodegradable paper bags, open containers, or tied and bundled as appropriate. Branches and limbs should be cut into 4’ lengths and securely tied in bundles with a total weight not exceeding 50 pounds. DPW staff will pick up a limited number of bags, but residents are always welcome and encouraged to bring them to Jack Stephan Way.

Curbside Recycling

Curbside recycling in Ewing Township is handled by the Mercer County Improvement Authority. Most questions regarding curbside recyclables can be answered by visiting their site. MCIA maintains a quality FAQ as well as a list of items that can and cannot be recycled at the curb. If you need to contact them by phone please call 609-394-0100.

Recycling at the Curbside is conducted by the MCIA on alternate Tuesdays in Ewing. (2022 County-wide curbside schedule) All recyclables must be in official buckets and at the curb by 7:00 a.m. NO ITEMS IN PLASTIC BAGS WILL BE COLLECTED.

  • Reminder!  Only recycling placed in the County-provided yellow or green buckets will be picked up, due to an increase in contractor employee’s collection related injuries.  However recycling contractors will continue picking up all flattened cardboard outside of the County recycling buckets.
