Additional Recycling Events

We encourage residents to take advantage of additional recycling programs sponsored by Ewing Township and the Mercer County Improvement Authority throughout the year.  These include the following programs.

Ewing Shred Days

Ewing Township also hosts bi-annual Shred Day events. These free events are for Township residents only and provide a completely safe and secure way to clean out old checks, bills, and any confidential documents that need proper disposal.

Examples of what to bring:

Obsolete Tax Documents, Bank Statements/Cancelled Checks, Sensitive information, Birth dates, Social Security Information, Signatures, Passwords and Pins, Credit Card Statements and Receipts, Credit Card Offers, Reports and Histories, etc.

Do not bring:

Newspapers, books or magazines, junk mail, plastic covering or cardboard, CD’s or floppy discs, metal or plastic binders, sheet protectors, overnight shipping envelopes (FedEx, UPS, etc.), photographs, x-rays, carbon paper, plastics, and any other non-paper item.

Please do not bring shredded paper, wet paper, or garbage.

Materials from businesses are not accepted and Ewing residents will be required to provide Proof of Residency. Because this is an extremely popular program please be prepared to spend a few minutes waiting in line. The events take place rain or shine.
These events are held at the Municipal Complex located at 2 Jake Garzio Drive from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm.  The 2024 dates are May 4th and October 5th.  Watch for our ads in the Ewing Observer and check our press releases for reminders about the events.  You can also check the Twp. Calendar for upcoming dates.

Mercer County Recycling Programs

The Mercer County Improvement Authority sponsors three Household Hazardous Waste and Electronic Waste Events for residents annually.  They are held at the Dempster Fire School in Lawrence Township at 350 Lawrence Station Road, Lawrenceville, NJ, 08648.  Residents can bring used motor oil, aerosol cans, antifreeze, paint, flammables and other household chemical waste for proper disposal.  Electronic Waste, including computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, stereos, televisions, and microwaves is also collected at these events. The 2024 dates are March 30th, June 8th, and September 21st.

Document Shredding Events

Two shredding events are held in the parking lot across from the County Administration Building at 651 South Broad Street in Trenton.  Residents may bring a maximum of eight boxes and/or bags of paper - NO Household Chemicals - NO Commercial Businesses.  The 2024 dates are April 6th and October 19th.

These events are for residents only, no commercial businesses, and proof of residency is required (Driver’s License).  For more information call (609) 278-8086 or visit
