Please note that the morning of November 13, 2024, starts our Annual Tax Sale.  Any payment on or after November 13, 2024 must be by certified funds (cash, money order, or chashier check).  No personal checks, business checks, or online payment will be accepted from November 13, 2024 - December 31, 2024. 

Tax Collector Department Information

The Tax Department is responsible for the billing, collection, reporting, and enforcement of taxes within the Township of Ewing.  In addition, the Tax Department also bills, collects, and reports sewer user fees for the properties connected to the public sewer.

As a statuary officer of the State of New Jersey, the Tax Collector is obligated to follow all the State Statutes regarding property tax collection including billing, due dates, interest on delinquent tax payments and tax sale procedures. 

Edmunds GovTech

Use Edmunds GovTech to lookup and pay your tax and sewer bills.  Pay your delinquent and/or current charges (taxes and/or sewer) for the SAME YEAR only.  You cannot use this service to pay off any PRIOR YEAR or lien.  

Convenience Fees

  • Credit/debit cards -  2.95% of the transaction.
  • Checking account withdrawal - $1.95 per transaction.

Convenience fees are retained by the service provider and are not paid to, or shared with, Ewing Township.

There is a Drop Off Mail Box for tax/sewer payments located at the back door of the Municipal Building. Use the second parking lot to access this mailbox.

When are the new tax bills mailed to the property owner and the due dates?
Tax bills are mailed in July with four quarterly tax amounts. Taxes are due on the first day of February, May, August and November.

Reimburses eligible senior citizens and disabled persons for property tax or mobile home park site fee increases on their principal residence (main home). To qualify, you must meet all the eligibility requirements for each year from the base year through the application year.

Homestead Benefit Program

ANCHOR Property Tax
RELIEF PROGRAM

The Affordable New Jersey Communities for Homeowners and Renters (ANCHOR) program provides property tax relief to eligible homeowners and renters.  This year's ANCHOR benefit is based on residency, income, and age from 2021.   ANCHOR benefits will be paid on a rolling basis, appr. 90 days after filing.  The application deadline has been extended to Friday, December 6, 2024.

New Jersey offers several property tax deductions, exemptions and abatements. For Ewing residents these programs are managed by the Ewing Township Tax Office.  They can include deductions for seniors, veterans, disabled persons, including 100% disabled veterans, and active military service personnel.  Non-profits and historic sites, as well as other exemptions may apply.

If you are having trouble paying your residential electric, sewer and water service bills this winter, the NJ Department of Community Affairs has a program to protect you from having these utilities turned off from November 15 through March 15.

Who is Eligible?

You qualify for protection during this period if you are being helped by one of the programs listed below:

  • Federal Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP)
  • Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF)
  • Federal Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Pharmaceutical Assistance to the Aged and Disabled (PAAD)
  • General Assistance (GA) benefits
  • Universal Service Fund (USF)
  • Low-income Household Water Assistance Program
  • Lifeline Credit Program

OR

You are unable to pay your utility bills because of circumstances beyond your control such as unemployment, illness, medically related expenses, recent death of an immediate family member, and any other circumstances, which might cause financial hardship.

What do you have to do?
  1. If you qualify for protection from shut-off during this period, you should contact your utility company to advise the company that you are eligible for coverage under the State’s Winter Termination Program. You should also pay as much as you can on your bill(s) during the winter.
  2. Customers also have the option to complete the following Self-Certification form and provide this form to their utility company as a way of notifying the company of their eligibility for protection. When using the Self-Certification form it is recommended that a copy of the form be retained for one’s personal records.

Please be advised that this debt does not go away, all of the money that you owe must be repaid after March 15, 2025 or your services may be disconnected.
