Reminder: Brush collection suspended from Nov.-Feb

Curbside brush pickup is suspended during leaf pickup season -- November and December -- and also in January and February.

The Ewing Twp Bulk Item Drop off site on Scotch Road is closed for the winter. The site will re-open Saturday 3/29/25.


The Dover Ave. Brush Drop Off will close on 1/18/25 and reopen on 3/1/25.

Public Works Information

New Location for Brush Drop-Off 

As necessitated by the long-awaited redevelopment of the former Naval Air Warfare Center on Parkway Avenue and to maintain a prized convenience, the Brush Drop Off Convenience Center is now open at its permanent location at the end of Dover Avenue, Ewing, NJ 08638. (Access from Prospect Street to Dover Avenue end of street)


The Department of Public Works provides a variety of services to the Township and its residents through the Divisions listed below:

Building and Grounds Division

Responsible for general upkeep and maintenance of all the Township-owned buildings and grounds.

Fleet Maintenance Division

Responsible for maintenance and repair of all township vehicles including cars, trucks, light and heavy equipment, including the Senior bus.

Recreation and Park Maintenance Division

Responsible for general upkeep and maintenance of the 14 Township-owned parks.   Athletic fields and recreational facilities in Ewing include:

  • 13 soccer fields
  • 8 softball fields *
  • 3 Little League fields
  • 1 Babe Ruth /Legion field
  • 2 football fields
  • 8 playgrounds
  • 20 tennis courts at Banchoff Park, the ESCC, Ewing High, and Antheil Elementary School
  • 1 dog run
  • 3 BBQ/picnic areas, along with 1 pavilion and 2 gazebos
  • 1 community garden

 *Note that Ewing received recognition for the softball fields at Armstrong Park in 2016 when it was named the 2016 ASA Complex of the Year for its history of hosting top-notch New Jersey ASA/USA Softball events.  For more information see our November 2016 press release.

The Park Maintenance Division integrates scheduling and maintenance with the various community functions and sports activities of the Community Affairs Department.  See our Municipal Parks page on this website about the facilities available at each park.  

Recycling Division

Responsible for the operation of the two Township Convenience Centers located at Scotch Road (bulk waste) and brush waste - temporarily moved to the Scotch Road facility at 136 Scotch Road.  This division interfaces with the Township’s contractor for curbside solid waste and recycling collection, Interstate Waste Services, in addition to NJDEP permit compliance.  

Roads Division

Responsible for general road and pothole repairs, street sweeping, traffic sign maintenance and roadway striping, storm drain maintenance, leaf and brush pickup, roadside weed and grass control, and tree work. 

All Divisions assist in community events, special projects and snow removal operations.

Division of Trees

Maintains and inspects all township owned trees located on Ewing Township property. The Tree division also inspects and prunes trees located within the municipal road right of way to improve traffic visibility and public safety. All trees located on private property are the responsibility of the property owner, including trees located within most easements and right of ways.

Park Guidelines

  • Park Is closed from dusk to dawn
  • Pick up all trash
  • Keep pets under control
  • Please respect the privacy of neighbors
  • Adult supervision in playground area is strongly recommended
  • No alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs and other controlled substances are permitted
