New Jersey Law requires anyone digging to call the New Jersey One Call System for mark out of underground utility lines.  This includes small and large con-struction projects ranging from putting up a fence or a mail box to building a home addition, deck or foundation...

Call New Jersey One Call at 811 or (800) 272-1000 any time of the day or night and take the following steps: 
  • Wait for the site to be marked with paint, flags or stakes. 
  • Respect the marks and 
  • Dig with care - This means hand digging within 2 feet either side of any marked facility. 
Calls must be made 3 business days in advance, but no more than 10 business days. 
Excavation must commence within 10 business days.
