National Night Out (NNO) is an annual celebration of community held by police departments across the country. It is held on the first Tuesday night in August. It began originally as an event where you would turn on your front porch light and sit outside to prevent crime. Today it has evolved into block parties, cookouts, parades, visits from police, festivals, neighborhood walks, safety fairs, contests, rallies, and meetings nationwide.
