Children's Health Services

The Township of Ewing offers free Child Health Clinics for infants, pre-school and school age children up to age 18. Services include physical exams for infants and toddlers which include growth measurements, developmental assessments, nutrition counseling, routine child health immunizations by a pediatrician, as well as lead screening, and TB testing. The clinic is staffed by Ewing Township Public Health Nurses. This program is for the uninsured (NO INSURANCE) and underinsured (Families with Family Care Plan A). A parent or legal guardian (with documentation) must accompany the child. Stepparents must provide adoption paperwork.

Immunizations

Routine Childhood Immunizations

Routine child health immunizations are administered up to age 18 by a pediatrician during our Child Health Clinics. This service is for the uninsured (NO INSURANCE) and underinsured (Families with Family Care Plan A). The service:

  • Is performed at the Ewing Township Health Department, Ewing Municipal Building, 2 Jake Garzio Drive (lower level).
  • Is the first Tuesday of the month
  • Hours are 8:30 am-noon
  • By appointment only

Flu Vaccines

The Flu Vaccine is RECOMMENDED for children aged 6 months and older (with rare exceptions*), and REQUIRED for children attending nursery school and children in daycare who are 6 months to 5 years of age. Children’s Flu Clinics for ages 6 months up to age 18 are held separately from the adult Flu Clinics and are given at the Health Office.

WIC Program

The New Jersey WIC program is a supplemental food program for pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum women, as well as infants and children up to the age of five. The program also includes nutrition education and counseling, breastfeeding promotion and support, immunization screening and health care referrals. Eligibility is income-based. Enrollment is open to all eligible applicants. More information is available here: NJ Gov WIC.

New Moms

We know this is an exciting time, and you may have many questions about taking care of your newborn. Our Public Health nurses are here to assist you. We are available to visit you after your delivery to:

  • Answer questions about caring for your baby, including feeding, sleep schedules, and what to do when your baby gets sick
  • Provide advice on topics such as self-care and stress management
  • Inform you about services available to you in the community, including our free clinic for children without health insurance or who receive NJ Family Care Plan A.
