Trenton Water Works Update July 5, 2023

TWW's Low-Velocity Water Main Flushing continues; Bilingual Legionella Public Awareness Material; How to Reach Us.

openfirehydrantLow-Velocity Water Main Flushing Program. TWW's Low-Velocity Water Main Flushing Program aims to maintain a chlorine residual in our water-distribution system of 1.00 mg/L.

They've opened approximately 50 service-area fire hydrants equipped with flow restrictors for extended periods to achieve this goal. Their teams are monitoring these hydrants and taking samples as needed for testing.

Service-area residents have phoned the TWW office to report open fire hydrants and ask questions. They address these inquiries immediately. In some cases, they will select a different fire hydrant if a flowing one is causing inconvenience to surrounding homes or businesses.

During the week of July 5th, they are sending a direct mail piece to our nearly 63,000 customers that explains why fire hydrants are open and flowing at a low velocity.  You may find a door hanger on the neighborhood homes where they’ve opened fire hydrants.
