Don’t forget to use Ewing’s Internet Purchase Exchange Location to complete your online transaction safely.
As the number of Internet vendors such as Craigslist, OfferUp, Letgo, and others requiring in person meet ups to complete online transactions has grown; so too has the need for safe, secure locations to conduct that business. The opportunity to more easily find exactly what you need and conduct business is a definite advantage of the Internet marketplace; however, dealing with strangers and completing a physical transaction of money for goods can be dangerous. There has been an increase in these types of e-commerce transactions that end in violence, sexual assault or robbery. To reduce risks for the buyer and the seller, Ewing Township and the Ewing Police Department have created a “safe zone” in front of the municipal building for your e-commerce transactions.
The parking lot in front of the municipal building at 2 Jake Garzio Drive has been set up to conduct such exchanges. The area on the right side in front of the building is designated by a small white sign “Internet Purchase Exchange Location” and provides a place to complete your online transaction in an area that receives constant traffic, is close to the Police Department and is under 24-hour video surveillance.
We encourage our residents or anyone who participates in these types of transactions in the area to take advantage of this location. Please don’t meet strangers at private residences or in areas that you are unfamiliar with.
Good luck with your bargain hunting and be safe!
