Ewing Township Announces a Switch to the Rave Mobile Network Powered by Smart911 to Keep Community Informed During Emergency Situations

Public Safety Officials Encourage Residents to Sign Up for Local Emergency Notifications to Be Better Prepared for an Emergency

Rave AlertsPublic safety officials in Ewing Township have announced that the Township is transitioning its Community Notification System to Rave Mobile Network powered by Smart911 beginning January 1, 2023, replacing the previous Swift911 system.  Smart911 is a free service that allows individuals to sign up for notifications sent from local authorities to stay informed on potentially hazardous situations involving weather, traffic, and other emergencies.

The switch to Rave Mobile Network allows residents to receive alerts via phone, text, and email, and notifies the community in real time during emergency situations and additional “need to know” situations such as street closings, changes to garbage pickups, as well as events and holidays and more. Individuals who are signed up for alerts will receive reliable information about the emerging situation, including tailored updates based on their geographic location.

Individuals who were previously signed up for Swift911 will be automatically enrolled in Smart911, but are encouraged to visit Sign Up - Smart911 to add additional and updated information to the new platform to ensure accuracy.  Residents who were not previously signed up for Swift911 should sign up for free (Sign Up -Smart911) to receive timely and actionable emergency alerts via email, text, or voice message. They can also identify when and how they are alerted and communicated with before, during, and after emergencies.

Smart911 provides enhanced functionality by sending targeted alerts based on the user’s location. Users will receive the highest priority National Weather Service alerts including tornado warnings, flash flood warnings, and severe thunderstorm warnings based on their real-time location.

“Community members will receive notifications that will improve safety in our community and help inform residents of potentially lifesaving actions they may need to take in an emergency,” said Mayor Bert Steinmann. “The information sent out by the Township through emergency notifications allows both residents and first responders to be better informed in an emergency situation.  When authorities have information about a situation, such as storm or emergency, they can be more effective in providing information to the public and appropriate assistance.  We encourage all members of our community and their families to sign up for the Rave Mobile Network in order to be prepared should an emergency occur.”

“Rave Mobile Network powered by Smart911 strengthens Ewing’s officials’ ability to communicate with residents when it matters most,” said Michael Narducci, Deputy OEM Coordinator.  “This service allows for critical communication with the public and provides individuals with the information needed to stay safe or take precautions during hazardous or emergency situations.”

Smart911 is trusted by thousands of institutions including state and local authorities, business, and educational institutions. The service sends millions of messages daily and during critical situations such as severe weather.

Community members are encouraged to sign up for Rave Mobile Network powered by Smart911 and input or update their information and notification preferences today at Sign Up - Smart911.
