Community Programs

National Night Out
National Night Out (NNO) is an annual celebration of community held by police departments across the country. It is held on the first Tuesday night in August. It began originally as an event where you would turn on your front porch light and sit outside to prevent crime. Today it has evolved into block parties, cookouts, parades, visits from police, festivals, neighborhood walks, safety fairs, contests, rallies, and meetings nationwide. The event is hosted at the ESCC and includes food, music, fire trucks, representatives from local community groups and more.

Trunk Or Treat
A "safe alternative" to trick-or-treating, Ewing’s Trunk or Treat event is usually held the weekend before Halloween.  During the event Ewing children from tiny tots up through eighth grade are invited to gather there and go from car to car, collecting treats.  Treats are distributed by Ewing parents and other adults from their decorated car trunks loaded with candy.  (Pre-registration for all participating vehicles is required.)  All candy must be pre-packaged.  The event is held in the parking lot at the Ewing Senior & Community Center, 999 Lower Ferry Road.  Look for information about the event in early Fall.

Build a Scarecrow Contest
Enter  the Ewing Green Team’s Annual Scarecrow Contest each October and demonstrate your recycling smarts and creative skills!   All scarecrows must be constructed of at least 80% recycled, reclaimed, and/or reused materials.  Materials like glue, nails, string, or other means of attaching items will count toward the allowable 20% new materials.  They must be named to help describe/identify the creative theme and must also be 4-5 feet tall (without stake) and 2-4 feet wide.

Winners are judged on originality, artistry and the creative use of recycled materials. The contest is open to all Ewing individuals, school groups, families, youth groups, service clubs and business groups.  See Scarecrow Contest page on Ewing Green Team website for additional details.

Mayor's Holiday Tree Lighting
The Annual Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony provides Township kids of all ages the opportunity to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus. The event features live music, entertainment and refreshments. Hosted by the Ewing Patriotic Committee and the Township Recreation Department, it is held at the ESCC every December.
