Ewing Township’s Commemorative Tree and Bench Program is a way for relatives and friends to pay tribute to a person(s) or occasion by purchasing a bench or tree for installation in a Ewing Township public park. The gift of a tree is a lasting tribute that benefits the community and natural environment, and memorial benches or other park amenities offer a unique way to remember a loved one in one of our many beautiful settings.
If you would like to donate a tree or bench to one of our parks or facilities, please complete a Commemorative Tree and Bench Program Application Form and send the completed form to the Parks Department.

The Township reserves the right to determine and limit the species requested in the Memorial Tree program. Tree species will be determined by availability and design plans for the space, as well as site conditions. E.g. Wet sites will require wet site tolerant species. Dry sites require dry site tolerant species.
Large trees will be 2 - 2 1/2 in. caliper. Small trees should be 1 1/2 - 2" caliper.
Commemorative trees should be locally sourced, native species that will add to the natural habitat of your preferred planting location. Preference will be given to straight species.
The trees in the following list are acceptable species for the Memorial Tree Program. Additional species may be available upon request:
Large Trees (See Missouri Botanical Garden plant database for authoritative descriptions)
Small Trees
Donors may also purchase the trees themselves and coordinate the planting with the Public Works Department. However, the TREE SELECTION AND LOCATION MUST BE APPROVED BY THE PARKS DEPARTMENT. Non-native varieties that are known to have invasive tendencies or those under threat from invasive diseases or pests will not be accepted.
Give a meaningful gift to the community with our Adopt-A-Bench program. Inquiries about bench donations should go to Ted Forst, Recreation Director. Email tforst@ewingnj.org or call 609-883-1776 X6203. You must supply a plaque if one is desired. All Ewing parks are available to receive your donation, as room is available. After purchase, the bench becomes the property of the Township which becomes responsible for their maintenance. The Township reserves the right to remove or replace the benches as it deems appropriate.
Donations for general park purposes and upkeep, or project development are accepted and encouraged. Donations of playground equipment, garden areas, etc. may be accepted under specific circumstances in consultation with Township staff. For additional information, or to pursue a donation, please call Ted Forst, Recreation Director at 609-883-1776 x 6203.
