Mayor Bert Steinmann Urges Residents to Take Advantage of Our Interactive Citizen Communication System to Stay Informed About Events & Emergencies

Sign up for Swift911.

Timely communication from your local government is expected in this era of multi-media, multi-device connectivity.  Are you concerned about getting the Ewing-centric information you need during fires, power outages, floods, hurricanes, evacuations, road closures and more?  Do you need to know whether the Township offices and the Municipal Court are closed?  Or if the trash and recycling pickup will adhere to its regular schedule, and what the rescheduled collection dates will be?  Are you also worried about finding out what to do, or where to go if you were to be without power for an extended period?   The Swift911™ Community Notification System answers those needs and more for Ewing's residents and business owners.

Mayor Bert Steinmann would like to remind all residents to sign up for Ewing Township’s interactive notification system, Swift911™, to better stay informed during weather emergencies and other important events.  Swift911™ is a state-of-the-art system for connecting with residents allowing the Township to provide citizens with the information they need to know. “This system provides timely communication with our residents when they most need it” said Mayor Steinmann.

Swift911™ can rapidly and reliably send voice calls, text messages, and emails to residents before, during and after emergencies, and this information can be tailored to specific locations within the Township. Residents can register and update their information through the Township’s Website (www.ewingnj.org/swift911) or through a free smartphone app.

Residents and business can customize their accounts to receive any of the following:

  • Sign up for automated weather alerts
  • Sign up for specific notifications like road closures
  • Receive pictures of wanted or missing persons in their area
  • Receive emergency related maps, pictures or other graphics
  • Receive alerts regarding the publication of agendas and other supporting documents for Council, and the Planning and Zoning Boards

Additional functionality includes:

  • Residents can list their home, work, and school addresses to be-in-the-know in their current area
  • Residents can submit pictures, link family members, etc. to assist first responders
  • Residents can communicate their specific needs during an emergency by answering a few short questions (like pets, access, and functional needs, etc.)
