TWW To Advance Repairs at Pennington Avenue Reservoir on Sunday

Trenton Water Works will continue repairs on a difficult section of pipe at the Pennington Avenue Reservoir. Here is an update on this emergency work and how it impacts your water service, including what you will see at the tap:

On Sunday, July 11 starting at 11 p.m., we will advance our work to repair a failed section of pipe at the reservoir. We will activate an interconnection with New Jersey American Water (NJAW), which will supply water to the TWW system to meet demand while key water- distribution systems are temporarily shut down during the aged-pipe repair.

Please be advised that NJAW uses chloramines as part of its water-treatment process; therefore, some customers, such as dialysis centers, may have to adjust their internal filtering and water testing processes. Fire companies and other emergency personnel should be prepared for lower pressure at fire hydrants across our system. TWW  water-distribution system personnel are available to fire companies ordinarily and in emergency situations to assist with fire hydrant performance.

We anticipate that this work will take approximately 72 hours. During this time horizon, customers in our service area will experience lower water pressure. While we apologize for this inconvenience, we also stress that the water is safe to consume, meeting rigorous federal and state regulatory standards.

When the work is complete, we will issue another public notice on our Facebook page; activate our Robocall system, TWW-Connects; and update local officials on the progress.
