Fireworks Safety

We share this flyer posted by the West Trenton Fire Company with safety information for the Independence Day holiday and urge everyone to use caution when using fireworks over the holiday.

The flyer posts the 2019 statistics of injuries that resulted directly from the use of fireworks.  It also offers the following safety tips:

  • Never allow children to play with or ignite fireworks.
  • Make sure fireworks are legal in your area before buying or using them.
  • Keep a bucket of water or garden hose readily available in case of fire or other mishap.
  • Light fireworks one at a time and then move back quickly.
  • Never try to relight or pick up fireworks that have not ignited fully.
  • After fireworks complete their burning, douse the spent device with plenty of water from a bucket or hose before discarding it to prevent a trash fire.

Remember, fireworks can be dangerous, causing serious burn and eye injuries.  Have a safe and happy holiday.
