Winter Fun in the Mercer County Parks

If you haven’t yet taken advantage of some of the nature programs and activities in the Mercer County Parks, we encourage you to take advantage of a variety of activities to enjoy this winter, whether at home or on the trails.

The Mercer County Parks Commission offers themed nature programs, children’s series, special events, workshops, and hikes for all ages year-round throughout the County Parks. Each program utilizes a unique explorative approach to learning about the different aspects of the natural world.

Click here to view their current season of public Nature Programs.  These programs and activities will  help you and your family explore and interpret the rich natural histories of our County’s Parks.  Some of the most ecologically significant areas in Mercer County will be covered through creative explorations and uniquely delivered programs led by experienced Naturalist Educators.

They offer in-person programming such as Just a Hike, the Watson Woods Walking Club, the Short-eared Owl Walk & Talk, Winter Bird and Duck Walks, and the Wellness Walk Island Trail.  Additionally, there are self-led activities to help you wile away the winter hours.

Register for their programs online using Communitypass. (An account is necessary to easily view upcoming programs, register, and pay for programs you want to attend.)  For in-person nature programs please observe all COVID-19 precautions and policies.

We encourage you to check out their offerings.  Our county parks offer something for everyone this winter.
