The Scarecrows Are Coming This October!

Be on the lookout, our Scarecrows are coming to Ewing again this fall!  Yes, that's right, the Ewing Green Team’s All Around Town Scarecrow Scavenger Hunt is back and we invite YOU to join in the fun. This will be the perfect opportunity for Ewing workers, families with kids, as well as adults of all ages to enjoy some seasonal Halloween fun. We hope that our Ewing community can have a great time while staying safe and healthy with an activity that lends itself to observing COVID-19 safety requirements.

We thank the Ewing Arts CommissionArt Has No Boundaries, and Mayor Steinmann for partnering with us once again to offer a new 'hunt' for the Halloween season this year. Scarecrow Event 2020

2020 HUNT DETAILS

Our event is free and open to all Ewing residents, workers, and business owners. You can host a scarecrow, hunt our scarecrows, or both.

HOST A SCARECROW

Ewing local businesses, civic groups, organizations and schools may create and display Scarecrows.  New this year: Ewing residents can also get creative and build and display their very own creations.  Create a Scarecrow and display it securely, hiding behind a bush, leaning against a lamp post, or wherever your imagination dictates.  Scarecrows can be spooky, patriotic, green, whatever you want, all creative imaginations are welcome.  Our scarecrow building tips are available at https://ewinggreenteam.files.wordpress.com/2019/07/all-around-town-scarecrow-tips.pdf  Don't forget to check out the options for qualifying for the Green Team prize.

  1. Register:  Fill out and submit the official Registration Form by September 10th at the latest.  The online registration form is available at  https://ewinggreenteam.org/scarecrow-scavenger-hunt-reg/.
  2. Hunt Dates:  Your Scarecrow must be ready and on display by the morning of October 1st  through October 29th!!
  3. Scarecrow Name & Number:  Name your scarecrow. You will also be assigned a number which will correspond to your scarecrow’s place on the ballot.   Both the name and number must be on your scarecrow’s sign.  They must be securely affixed, prominently displayed, and easy to read for the ‘hunters.
  4. Scarecrow Location: Please display your Scarecrow in your front yard (residents), in front of your business or in your front window (securely and able to withstand the elements), to make it possible for people to keep their distance.  Questions about where to place your scarecrow?  Contact Lisa Feldman at 609-620-0722.  Residents setting up a scarecrow elsewhere instead of their homes (following Green Team approval) please mark ‘resident’ on your sign.

HUNT FOR OUR SCARECROWS

Our Scavenger Hunt runs from October 1st to October 29th.  Ballots will be available beginning Oct 1st on the Green Team website, as well as ewingnj.org. (Paper ballots TBA.)  Figure out all the ‘Ewing-centric clues’ to hunt down our scary creatures.  Mark the name of each scarecrow on your ballot as you find it. The more scarecrows you find, the greater the number of entries you will earn that will be entered in our drawing for the grand prize.  Please be sure to mark your favorite resident and business/organization/school scarecrows on your ballot. You may submit your ballot electronically on the Green Team website or on paper in the drop box at the upper level at the municipal building.  All ballot entries are due by 4:30 pm on October 29th.  No entries will be accepted after that time.  Winners will be announced (possibly via Zoom) on Saturday, October 31st at approximately 5 pm.

PRIZES

  1. $200 Grand Prize - all hunters who submit a ballot will be awarded entries to be entered into the drawing for the grand prize.  The number of entries for each hunter will be dependent upon the number of scarecrows found.
