Registration for 2020 Garden Plots at the Ewing Community Gardens on Whitehead Road Ext. Begins March 2
The 2020 registration for garden plots at the Ewing Community Gardens on Whitehead Road Extension will begin in March. Mayor Bert Steinmann invites Ewing residents to be a part of the “grow local” movement and to take advantage of this exciting opportunity to grow – vegetables, herbs, flowers, fruits, as well as community connections.
This opportunity is open to Ewing Township residents only and proof of residency will be required. You must apply in person only at the Clerk’s Office on the appropriate dates as list below. Plots are available at the nominal cost of only $5 each and you can purchase up to two plots.
Each plot is approximately 16’ x 20’ and half of the plots are no till/organic. Organic gardening methods are encouraged. The Township Public Works staff tills and prepares the other half every spring. This is weather dependent so the official opening of the gardens for the no-till section will be announced late in the season. Since the organic half is no till, it is open to the gardeners year-round. Amenities included site wide deer fencing, water, a porta-john during the growing season, and more.
There is an active gardening organization, the Ewing Community Gardens Association, so be sure to meet your neighbors and get involved. Regular site clean ups will be held.
Registration and Requirements
Location: Office of the Clerk, 2 Jake Garzio Drive, Ewing, NJ 08628 (upper level)
Cost: Plots are $5.00 each and you can purchase up to two plots.
Dates for returning gardeners: Monday, March 2, 2020 Registration will Open for PREVIOUS YEAR PLOT HOLDERS ONLY
Dates for New Applicants: Monday, March 16, 2020 Registration will open for NEW applicants. Owners of plots in 2019 will have an opportunity to reserve their same plots from the prior year.
Date for additional plots: If there are still plots available on April 15th, 2020 you may purchase additional plot(s). Please call the clerk’s office at (609) 538-7608 to find out if more plots are available.
You must be present to buy your plot(s). Ewing Township residents only (proof of residency is required) No Exceptions!!!
Ewing Community Gardens Association
The Ewing Community Gardens Association was formed in 2012 in response to the need for organizing the gardeners who participate in gardening at the site.
