Girl Scouts Paint the Bridge at Watson Park!

Bridging advances girls to the level of Girl Scouting

Bridge before the ceremony

Senior Girl Scout troop 71717 volunteered to plan and host the Lawrence-Ewing-Trenton Girl Scouts Service Unit Bridging event.  For those not familiar with bridging it is a ceremony in Girl Scouting where the girls move from one level to another.  The Scouts were very excited to find a bridge to use at John Watson Park in Ewing, however, the bridge needed some TLC.

Troop #70026 after bridging to Juniors  With the approval of Ted Forst, Ewing Township Recreation director, the girls planned a workday.  They donned their rubber boots and spent an afternoon in May sanding and painting the bridge.  Some minor repairs were also completed which included hammering a few nails to make sure the bridge was safe to use.  Of course, they also did an area/creek clean-up as Girl Scouts always make the world a better place.  The girls used some of their cookie earnings to give back to the community in which they have held their meetings for the past 10 years by purchasing the paint and painting supplies.

Sunday, June 2nd, the day of the bridging dawned bright and beautiful, and 50 Girl Scouts were bridged over to the next level in their Girl Scout careers.
