Heartsaver CPR AED Training Classes to Be Offered this Summer

Offered by the American Heart Association with Ewing Township Fire Department and EMS

The Township of Ewing recognizes the importance of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillators (AED).  Bringing this training to our community members increases both awareness and readiness in Ewing; both of which play a vital role in the chain of survival for heart attack victims.

The Heartsaver CPR/AED course, offered by Team Life, one of the most established and trusted names in CPR training, is designed for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements.  It will teach registrants how to effectively deliver CPR and how to correctly use an AED in accordance with current American Heart Association guidelines.  The American Heart Association’s Heartsaver instructional course will be offered on July 28^th and August 20^th from 6 – 9 PM. 

This course will:

• Describe how high-quality CPR improves survival
• Explain the concepts of the Chain of Survival
• Recognize when someone needs CPR
• Perform high-quality CPR for an adult
• Describe how to perform CPR with help from others
• Give effective breaths using mouth-to-mouth or a mask for all age groups
• Demonstrate how to use an AED on an adult
• Perform high-quality CPR for a child*
• Demonstrate how to use an AED on a child*
• Perform high-quality CPR for an infant*
• Describe when and how to help a choking adult or child
• Demonstrate how to help a choking infant*

This American Heart Association course will be run by Team Life, Inc. and assisted by Ewing Township Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services personnel.  It will be held at the Ewing Township Fire Department, 1666 Pennington Road, Ewing, NJ 08618. (Training Room) Enter from the rear of the building.

Upon successful completion of the course, you will be issued an American Heart Association course completion card via e-mail. This certification is valid for two years.

Registration is limited and restricted to ages 16 and older.
