Ewing Township Memorial Day Tribute 2023

Ewing Township carries on the tradition of honoring and paying respect to those who have served in the military.

Memorial Day celebrationPlease join Mayor Bert Steinmann, Township Council, and the Ewing Patriotic Committee for our Memorial Day Service as we pay tribute to our brave military men and women for their service and sacrifice.

The Ewing Township Patriotic Committee will be conducting the Memorial Day tribute in conjunction with the Mayor and Council, at the Major General George J. Betor Veterans Memorial Park, adjacent to the Municipal Building, on Monday, May 29th, at 11 AM.

The ritualized remembrance of the nation’s fallen heroes who died in service to our country began shortly after the Civil War and was originally known as Decoration Day. It was a day when families of both the Union and the Confederate forces decorated the graves of the fallen. It is now known as Memorial Day and became an official federal holiday in 1971.

The American Legion Post 314 Color Guard will post the colors.  There will be remarks honoring the veterans by the Mayor, Council President, and members of our military community. A wreath presentation will take place and a Pillar and Plaque for John Hutchinson will be dedicated.

The public is invited to pay their respects.

The Township extends its thanks to the members of the Ewing Patriotic Committee for organizing and hosting our annual Ewing Township Memorial Day Ceremony.
