Municipal Parks

Eight parks in Ewing serve as focal points for our recreational programming. These parks are maintained by the Township of Ewing Park Maintenance Division. Please call the Recreation Department at 609.883.1776 to find out more about the use of these facilities. Parks with this symbol (*) have picnic areas that can be rented for a fee. Permits are required for picnic areas & fields. Check our Facilities Rentals page for more information about renting a picnic area or having a pool party in season.

Memorial Donations to Ewing's Parks

Should you be interested in contributing to improving our parks in a lasting way, Ewing Township has instituted a Commemorative Tree and Bench Program. This program allows relatives and friends to pay tribute to a special person(s) or occasion by purchasing a bench or tree for installation in one of Ewing Township public parks. The gift of a tree is a lasting tribute that benefits the community and natural environment, and memorial benches or other park amenities offer a unique way to remember a loved one in one of our many beautiful settings. Smaller assets in the Ewing Park System

Fasolino Field
Fasolino Field is a small baseball park on Saratoga Ave that is used for Little League games. It was renovated by a group of citizen volunteers and currently maintained by Towonship staff.
Shabakunk Creek Park
The Shabankunk Creek Park is a small passive park along Olden Avenue with benches for seating.
Stout Avenue Playground
The Stout Ave Playground is a small neighborhood playground on Stout Avenue consisting of a 15,000 sq. ft lawn with playground equipment and swings. The playground equipment is suitable for ages 5 - 12, as are two of the swings. Two swings are suitable for ages 2 - 5.
Village on the Green
The Village on the Green consists of about 18 acres of green space with playground equipment on Sabrina Dr. There is a large lawn, picnic table, benches, with playground equipment and swings suitable for both ages 2 -5 and ages 5 - 12.
Hollowbrook Park
Hollowbrook Park is located at the Hollowbrook Community Center, 320 Hollowbrook Drive, and has one of the township’s two community pools, community center and a natural area.
Roosevelt Park
This small neighborhood park has playground equipment and swings, and a youth basketball court. The playground equipment is suitable for ages 2 - 5 and 5 -12. Two swings are suitable for ages 2 - 5 and 2 are suitable for ages 5 - 12.
Birmingham Park
Birmingham Park is a small pocket park located on the corner of Bear Tavern Road/Grand Ave. and West Upper Ferry Road. Its name reflects the colonial history of the area as present day West Trenton was originally called Birmingham. The small garden on the site is maintained by the West Trenton Garden Club. The site is also home to a Blue Star Memorial.

Park Facilities

Athletic fields and recreational facilities in Ewing include:

10 outdoor basketball courts
1 dog park with separate areas for puppies, small dogs and big dogs.
13 soccer fields
8 softball fields *
3 Little League fields
1 Babe Ruth /Legion field
2 football fields
8 playgrounds
tennis courts: 2 tennis/pickleball at Banchoff Park, and (8) tennis (only) courts at Antheil Elementary School (lighted)
3 BBQ/picnic areas, along with 2 pavilions and 2 gazebos
1 community garden

*Note that Ewing received recognition for the softball fields at Armstrong Park in 2016 when it was named the 2016 ASA Complex of the Year for its history of hosting top-notch New Jersey ASA/USA Softball events.

Ewing Township Park Rules

The ordinances of the Township and the rules and regulation of the Ewing Township Recreation and Park Department Shall apply including those listed below:

All rules, signs, township laws must be followed. All day use areas are open from 8:00 a.m. to ½ hour after sunset, unless designated. Evening use is allowed at lighted facilities, by permit only.
People using parks are required to clean up their trash. Trash, garbage and recyclable products shall be placed in containers provided and limited to litter accumulated during use of the recreation area.
Alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs and other controlled substances are not permitted.
Fires will be permitted in fire places only.
Do not remove, molest, injure or damage anything natural or physical with the park.
Use or discharge of any type of gun, slingshot or explosive is not permitted.
In the event of hazardous conditions endangering life or property, any area or facility may be closed.
Vehicle operators shall obey posted speed limits and shall use only roads and parking areas open to the public.
Pets must be leashed on a leash six feet in length or shorter.
Wildlife shall not be hunted, pursued, molested or intentionally disturbed.
User agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Township of Ewing from any claims, damages or suits arising out of its use of the Township property whether caused by negligence of the Township, its agents, servants, employees or otherwise.

Everyone must follow all pool rules. The pool staff and lifeguards will enforce the rules. People not following rules may be asked to sit out of pool, suspended from the pool for a period of time or removed for the season.
Everyone entering the pool complex must show a photo ID with current address and purchase a daily pass or show season pass. Non-Residents must be with an Ewing resident or pool member to be eligible to purchase a daily pass. People using the pool must be season or daily pass holders, paying guest, part of a camp or other paying group.
For families purchasing a seasonal pool pass, all adults 18 & over must show photo ID to verify home address and age. Only family members living at one address can be on the same pass.
Ewing Township seasonal pool system pass is good for ESCC & HCC pools in 2019.
PEOPLE PAYING DAILY FEES CAN APPLY THAT MONEY TO A FULL SEASON MEMBERSHIP PASS. IT CANNOT BE APPLIED TO PARTIAL SEASON MEMBERSHIP PASS.
No running on the pool deck. No hanging on ropes. Pool toys may be used if the pool is not crowded and lifeguards allow them, and people are using them in a safe manner.
Dive only in designated areas. No jumping in the pool backwards.
No eating food or drinks in the pool area except plastic bottled water. Bottles must be plastic, no glass containers. Food can be eaten at snack bar area only. No glass containers permitted on premises.
Snack bar hours are 12:00pm to 8:00pm and may close earlier.
No smoking in pool area. Smoking cannot take place within 100 feet of the pool complex.
An adult, 18 or over must accompany children under
Children under 7 must be accompanied by an adult 18 or over into the water and stay at arms-length at all times. Adults entering the pool only to supervise their children and not use the pool, may pay the same price as the child and wear a wrist band which indicates they are not using the pool.
No cut off shorts in the pool. Inappropriate swimwear is not allowed. Use steps or ladders to exit pool.
No running jumps in the shallow area.
The pool will close during electrical storms. Pool automatically closes for 30 minutes after lightning or thunder. Everyone must leave deck area.
The pool may close early for weather, emergency, system breakdowns or no people using the pool. In weather or emergency cases, refunds may be given if people are at pool less than 45 minutes. Refunds are not given for people being asked to leave the pool area for poor behavior. Refunds will be reviewed by staff on a case by case basis.
No alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs are allowed on the Ewing Township property.
Lap lanes are for lap swimmers first. Free swimming in lap lanes is permitted if lane is not being used.
No chairs permitted near edge of pool.
Children who are not potty trained must wear a swim diaper. NO DISPOSABLE DIAPERS ALLOWED.
Small flotation devices are permitted at the discretion of the lifeguards. No large floatation devices are allowed.
Throwing balls or other items is allowed at the discretion of the lifeguards. Individuals who fight at the pool will automatically be removed for the season.
Swimmers under 14 must pass a swim test to swim in the deep end. Swimmers will be given a wrist/ankle band that must be worn.
Pool patrons will be allowed in the Ewing Senior & Community Center building to conduct business at the Recreation or Senior Citizen Office or to use the fitness facilities if they have paid for that fee. No wet bathing suits allowed in the building.
No bikes, pets or other large objects allowed in pool area.
Any person showing evidence of skin disease, inflamed eyes, having a cold, nasal or ear discharge will not be allowed in the pool.
No spitting water, rough play, yelling, making loud noises or rowdiness allowed.
All swimmers must rinse off in a shower before swimming.
People are responsible for their own property. The pool staff is not responsible for watching personal property.
Lost and found is kept at the pool desk. Pool staff is not responsible for items in lost and found.
People can borrow board games, cards, etc. but must return them when they are finished playing.
Pool furniture is available for use, but pool patrons may bring in lawn chairs.
Director of Community Affairs or a designated person must schedule special events at pool.

Additional Recreation Options

Delaware-Raritan Canal State Park

The Delaware-Raritan Canal State Park is a 94 acre section of the park in Ewing that also offers outdoor enthusiasts the opportunity to walk, run, bike along the scenic Delaware River. There is river access for boating and fishing and the area offers excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing.

Canal Park parking is available in a number of locations in Ewing: at Wilburtha Road, West Upper Ferry Road, Lower Ferry Road, and at Scudders Falls [Access -- Rte 29 North from Exit 1 of I-95 in NJ. First (and only) left after interchange.]

Mountainview Golf Course

The Mountain View Golf Course is owned and operated by Mercer County. It features a mature, 18-hole championship golf course that is open year round, seven days a week, weather permitting. The course measures 6117 yards from the regular tees and 6682 yards from the back tees with a par of 72. Mt. View is characterized by its natural terrain of rolling hills and valleys. The course is ideal for players of all abilities. Mt. View has a 10-stall driving range with netting that allows golfers to work on their game or warm up before each round."

Mountain View also boasts a newer (2007) clubhouse that is routinely booked for golf outings, corporate luncheons, weddings and private parties. It has been recognized as one of the top clubhouses nationally by Golf Inc. magazine.

Johnson Trolley Trail

The Johnson Trolley Trail is the bed of an old trolley, known as the “Fast Line,” run by the Trenton-Princeton Traction Company from appr. 1901/1940. Fares were only 10¢. Today, you can walk or bike the right-of-way abandoned by the former trolley company for free on a restored trail. The trail is split up into two sections, north and south, which are split by Interstate 95. The Ewing section is the terminus of the southern section. It was renovated with the help of a grant from the Federal Recreational Trails Program, administered by the NJDEP. It consists of an approximately 5,000ft multi-use path and natural area.
