Student Art Show

Release date: 1/16/2018

Mayor Bert Steinmann, the Ewing Art Commission and the Trenton Elks Lodge #105 present the 2018 Student Art Show

Mayor Bert Steinmann and the Ewing Arts Commission (EAC), in concert with the Trenton BPOE (Elks), will host a Student Art Show January 28 from 1 to 4pm, showcasing the artwork of Ewing youth.

"The student artists in our community are as talented as they are diverse.  We are thrilled to showcase their work at this show.”  EAC Chair Mel Antler stated.

The student art will include a number of mediums such as drawing, oil and acrylic paintings, computer based work and clay sculptures.  The show is unique in Ewing Township as it is the only venue that is open to any K-12 youth who resides in Ewing.

Students interested in participating have until January 19 at 4pm to enter artwork.  Entries can be delivered to the Trenton Elks Lodge #105 at 42 DeCou Avenue, Ewing, NJ 08628.  There is no limitation to size or medium or art submitted, 2D and 3D work will be accepted.  There is also no limit to the number of submissions each student artist can submit.  Submissions must be accompanied by an entry form.

Local residents and community members attending the show will have an opportunity to view student work and enjoy music provided by the Elks.  New this year, a second ‘Meet the Artist Reception’ will be held at the Ewing Township Municipal Building on February 21, 2018 at 6pm.

"Showcasing the work of local students is essential to our mission at the Elks.  We are pleased to partner with the Ewing Arts Commission for this and future shows.”  Trenton Elks Grant Coordinator Jim Castelize, III said.  “The Ewing Township community truly benefits from projects like this where multiple organizations collaborate for the greater good.  This year Trenton Lodge 105 has been able to give back over $10,000 thanks to the Elks National Foundation to the Ewing Community."

The EAC is the municipal entity whose primary task is to promote art in Ewing.  The group has co-sponsored the project with the Elks over the last several years.

The event is made possible by a grant from the Elks National Foundation, the charitable arm of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.  Through its Community Investments Program, the Elks National Foundation awards grants to local Elks Lodges to help the Elks strengthen their communities. This year, the Elks National Foundation will award $6.5 million in grants to benefit Elks communities.

The EAC and the Elks will also be sponsoring a Spring Show in April.  For more information on the EAC visit  To questions on art submission email  To find out more about the Elks visit  For more information about how the Elks National Foundation invests in local communities, visit the Elks National Foundation website at
