Featured Artist for August - Two Generational Work of Artist Family

Release date: 7/25/2017

August art displays at municipal building features longtime township employee Leo Roberts alongside the work of his father, the late Lieutenant Leo Roberts.

The Ewing Art Commission and Art Has No Boundaries will feature the work of two generations of Ewing public servants and residents in August.  Longtime township employee Leo Robert’s work will be on display alongside the work of his father, the late Lieutenant Leo Roberts.

“Leo’s landscapes capture light and movement so exquisitely but equally impressive is his portraiture work.”  said Art Has No Boundaries principal Melissa Bennett.

About Leo Roberts

Leo was born and raised in Ewing Township and attended the Ewing Public Schools.   Mr. Roberts formal art training came from Mercer County Vo-tech for Commercial Art as well as Mercer County Community College.  Mr. Roberts has worked in the graphic arts field as a camera operator.  He is retired from the Township of Ewing Recreation Department.

Leo inherited his artistic ability from his late father Lieutenant Leo Roberts, a fine artist in his own right, and a composite artist for the Ewing Township Police Department. Several of Lieutenant Robert’s pieces will be displayed alongside Leo’s.

In addition to two dimensional art, Mr. Roberts also enjoys building models.  His model German cruiser Admiral Graf Spee, which he built for his father out of a piece of wood from Hitler’s yacht, will also be on display during the month of August.

Robert’s work will be on display at Town Hall until the end of August.  He is available by appointment to do commission work for portraits.

About Ewing’s Featured Artist Program

The Ewing Art Commission and the Art Has No Boundaries organization partnered to showcase Ewing Township artists at Ewing Town Hall this fall. Establishing a monthly display of local art work, the art installation will feature two to three dimensional art on the second floor of the Municipal building.   Participating artists are affiliated with the Ewing Art Commission, a municipal body that seeks to promote the arts in our community, and the Art Has No Boundaries organization, a group that provides art programming at the Ewing Senior Community Center.

Local artists interested in having their art showcased at Town Hall or parties interested in donating to this, or future art events/programs should contact the Ewing Art Commission at ewingartdisplay@gmail.com.
