2017 General Election Information

Cast Your Ballot for the Candidate of Your Choice on November 7th

On Tuesday, November 7, 2017, voters in the Garden State will vote for state, county and municipal officials.  Be sure to exercise your rights and vote.   Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

If you haven’t yet registered and would like to vote in this election, the deadline is quickly approaching; so fill out the application form (further down in this article) and submit it as soon as possible.  The deadline is 21 days before Election day, or October 17th for this upcoming General Election.


Mercer County voters will select the Governor and Lieutenant Governor, State Senators and Assemblymen and women (note that Ewing is in the 15th Legislative District), representatives to the Board of Chosen Freeholders, the County Sheriff and State Committee representatives.  There are no municipal election candidates in Ewing this year, or federal candidates.

2017 Election Timeline

  • General Election Voter registration deadline is October 17, 2017
  • The deadline to apply in person for mail-in ballot: November 6, 2017 - by 3:00 pm
  • Deadline for Submission of General Election Mail-In Ballots to County Boards of Election - by 8:00 p.m. on the day of election (November 7th)

Register to Vote


To register in New Jersey, you must be:
  • A United States citizen
  • At least 17 years old, with the understanding that you may not vote until reaching the age of 18.
  • A resident of the county for 30 days before the election
  • You are NOT currently serving a sentence, probation or parole because of a felony conviction


The deadline to register to vote is 21 days before Election Day.  For the 2017 General Election on November 7th, the deadline is October 17th.


Voting on Election Day

Voting by Mail

Registered voters who are unable to go to their designated polling site on Election Day may vote by mail.  Applications for voting by mail are available at the NJ Division of Elections or on this website on the Municipal Clerk’s page.  Mail in ballots were also mailed to all registered voters earlier this month.


  • You can vote with a "Mail-In" ballot for any reason.
  • Original signatures are required.  The County Clerk cannot accept faxed or emailed copies of an Application for Vote by Mail Ballot, unless you are a Military or Overseas Voter.
  • Deadline:  The Vote by Mail application must be received by the County Clerk at least 7 days prior to the election. A voter may also apply in person to the County Clerk until 3 p.m. the day before the election.  For 2017 General Election, Vote by Mail applications need to be received by September 30th.
